Katie Signs For Bristol City

It is always a bittersweet moment when a team and club loses a fantastic player to a professional Academy. This is no exception as we wave goodbye to Katie Harries after a successful trial with Bristol City.
Katie has signed for Bristol City Women U14 a category 1 PGA (Professional Game Academy)
Katie started with Poole Town FC Wessex FTY U13 mixed in the JPL last season. She was the only female in the squad, but was quickly accepted and respected by the boys.
The team, led by coach Tom Harrison, played some excellent football and developed extremely quickly under his guidance.
She had previously been coached and mentored by our JPL and Academy Head, Juan Valverde, from the age of 8 who also had a big influence on her unique, composed playing style.

Playing in the JPL gave her the opportunity to successfully trial for the JPL Warriors All-Stars team, playing against several academy teams and going to Real Madrid for a 5 day training camp.
Mixed JPL football is an excellent pathway for girls not in the academy system. This season the team played against Brighton, Chelsea, Arsenal & Southampton women.
Katie went on trial, and was offered a place at two Category 1 Academies.
Poole Town FC Wessex and FTY gave her an excellent platform to showcase her undoubted talent in a male dominated league.
The rest is all Katie’s own hard work and desire to improve herself individually and as part of a team.
So we wish Katie and her family all the best going forward and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for this wonderfully talented young lady.
